Nigerian Police "Occupy" Venue Of Fuel Subsidy S Fraud ProtestPolice this morning took over the Unity Fountain in Abuja to stop a planned protest by a group under the aegis of Anti-Corruption Network.. The group which started collection of signatures of many Nigerians last week had called on Nigerians to join in protest against the manipulation of subsidy's investigation report, increase in the electricity tariff and sack of Minister of Petroleum Allison Maduekwe.
The rally was scheduled to take place this week, but the organizers refused to indicate the date for security reasons.

The Nigerian police in the recent days has launched a crackdown on several protest venues in the country. It would be recalled that the Save Nigeria Group (SNG) was stopped from staging a similar protest in Lagos as armed policemen took over the venue of the protest (Gani Fawehinmi Park) in Lagos few weeks ago.
