There was a report of an explosion in a football viewing centre in Jos, Plateau State, late on Tuesday.
Commissioner of Police in the state, Dipo Ayeni, confirmed the explosion in the Tundun Wada area of the Tin City.
It occurred while the
second leg of the semi-final match of the UEFA Champions League between
Chelsea FC and Barcelona FC was on.
Ayeni said the he could
not confirm the casualty figure but there were speculations that some
people died while many were injured.
Barcelona of Spain,
playing at home, hosted Chelsea. The score at the end of the game was
2-2 but Chelsea on the aggregate defeated Barcelona at 3-2. The Spanish
team had lost to Chelsea in their first clash at the Stamford Bridge,
London, a forth night ago.
