According to the DPP, various vital documents and one desktop computer were carted away from the administrative office of the secretariat.
The note left behind by the burglars read: “We know your plans, don’t go far.”
When this reporter visited the scene he observed that the ceiling was broken on the first floor of the secretariat. The office of the state chairman was still locked, but that of his receptionist was one of those affected.
Describing the incident as politically motivated, the State chairman of DPP, Chief Tony Ezeagwu, confirmed that there was no money in the office at the time, but he described the incident as political, and that the police had been informed of the burglary.
“They did not come here to steal because they did not remove the radios, fridges and other valuables. Even the bullet proof vest of the police which was here was not removed. They came clearly for our documents and they cleared the administrative office. Vital documents and one desktop computer were removed from the administrative office. The doors were still locked the way we left them on Friday but the burglars climbed the over head tank to enter the offices through the roof.”
The DPP and its governorship candidate in the April 26, 2011 election have approached the Supreme Court to review its judgment delivered in March this year. No date has been fixed for the case.
