Mr.
Okey Obi, widower of Mrs. Chinwe Obi (47), one of the victims of the
ill-fated Dana Airline flight which claimed over 156 lives, said his
late wife was prepared for death.
Obi
spoke at a service of songs held in honour of late Chinwe, a staff of
the National Universities Commission, at the family residence located at
41, Harper Crescent, Wuse Zone 7, Abuja, on Thursday night.
He
said a few days to the incident, his wife and partner for so many years
went to Church to pray daily and talked about a project she held dear
to her heart.
Obi said, “I have lived with her for many years and we shared so many good times and bad times.
“But
this time, I have to take it because it is God’s will. She was prepared
for it because, a few days before the eventful day, she was always in
the Church every day praying.
“She
asked me for one document that she wanted to present to the Lord and
said that God would provide the resources to start the project. I
believed that God has answered that prayer.
Obi
said his late wife’s love for the children was legendry as she always
had something to give them each time she went out, which made the
children look forward to her return.
In
a tribute to the deceased, the Deputy Executive Secretary of the NUC,
Mr. Akinbode Agbaoye described her as not only hardworking but dedicated
to her duties.
He
said, “She had a smile for everyone. She worked and related with her
colleagues well. She was a member of the NUC family who we will miss
greatly.”
