Security Source Claims Boko Haram’s Major Plan Was To Attack A Women Conference In Kaduna

An operative of Nigerian secret police told SaharaReporters that the plot was thwarted. The source said his team arrived Kaduna from Abuja two days ago to thwart the attack. The source anonymously said that the sect plan to carry out several suicide bombs attacks at the convention area around Kakura village, close to the proposed Kaduna new city. However, he claimed that the attacks were held back upon realizing that it will be difficult to move suicide bomb rigged cars to the scene due to topography and the timing. The sect, according to our source, realized also that  travelling through various security formations would be impossible  because they would be detected.
The source further added when it became clear that it will be difficult to convey the bomb loaded cars, Boko Haram  switch to a plan to attack the convention to disrupt the meeting with heavy gunshots, but on receiving intelligence reports, armed soldiers, regular and secret police were deployed to secure the venue and the deep forest surrounding the area.

Former Nigerian military leader General Yakubu Gowon was present at the women conference while  NTA’s Moji Mokonjuola who is a member of the ECWA women fellowship moderated the event.
The security source added that Boko Haram could not take responsibility for today’s Easter Sunday early morning attacks in Kaduna because it was unsuccessful according to their plans. The sect would likely suffer backlash because most of today’s bombing victims were poor  Muslims  struggling to make ends meet.
However, another source knowledgeable about the sect operations told us that the Kaduna cell of the sect does not claim responsibility for attacks in the metropolis.
