More revelations have emerged on how the former Director, Pension
Administration in the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the
Federation,Dr. Sanni Teidi Shaibu and others who are currently standing
trial over a N38 billion pension scam allegedly used ghost names to
siphon about N80 million.
The revelations are contained in the evidence handed over by the banks to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which was exclusively obtained by us.
The document, which was submitted as proof of evidence in the on going trial before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, indicated that 16 fake accounts were opened in two different banks with non existing names for the purpose of diverting funds originally meant for pensioners.
Out of the accounts opened,12 were opened with Afribank, while the remaining four were opened with Union bank.
The ghost pensioners in Afribank are:Mabeni Okolo with account number 2266761594513 and total sum of N2,765,942.34 was paid into it; Ekele Achile, account number 2266761630617, N12,129,640.70; Ameyi John, account number 242734204511, N3,292,317.06; Attah James, account number 2427342354514, N2,754,221.34; Haruna Abu,account number 2266761613518 , N5,851,221.07;Mark Reuben, account number 2266761603512, N3,295,632.78; Anyebe Joseph, account number 2266761599515, N6,253,253.63.
Others are Ameh Audu James with the account number 2266761600513, N5,290,200.44; Ali Alaji, account number 2266761598519 , N5,127,493.12; Ikwoche Shaibu, account number 2266761614514, N6,182,047.02; Agada Emmanuel, account number 2266761606511, N6,184,829.12 and Oduh Sunday Onyemalechi, account number 2186602262514, N476,700.00 .
Those that their account’ were opened with Union bank are; Shaibu Aminu, account number, 2602000081878, N5,924,890.23; Ameh Otebu, N3,510,453.11; Kerimu Shuaibu, account number 2602000081895, N5,220,464.47 and Edimeh Faruna, account number 203200081956 N6,348,327.54.
According to the document, one Haruna Maigida operating three accounts fraudulently paid the sum of N17,452,910.87, N7,783,891.68 and N17,293,888.44 respectively from OHCSF for pension arrears and gratuity totaling N42,530,690.
Similarly, one Abdullahi Omeiza, who was said to be a school teacher in Sokoto State, was fraudulently paid the sum of N23,415,131.42 for pension arrears and gratuity through his UBA account number 022-502500-02-6-73 from OHCSF.
