In a statement, the Osun PDP threatened to drag the state government before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, alleging the contract award was fraudulent.
In the statement by the acting Chairman, Osun PDP, Chief Adejare Bello, the party alleged that “the award of “N636m to plant flowers is dubious”.
The opposition party also alleged that the ruling ACN government was set to spend N377m to celebrate the first anniversary of Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme.
However, the Osun ACN Director of Information and Strategy, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, said in a statement on Tuesday that the PDP was “fast becoming a notorious gang of shameless liars”.
The statement said, “The state government has presented its budget to the public and all the allocations of government for the year were spelt out.
“Governor Rauf Aregbesola was painstaking in reeling out the details of the budget and the state commissioner of finance, Mr Wale Bolorunduro, also gave a breakdown of the budget.
“The presentation of the budget by the governor and the analysis of the budget by the finance commissioner were broadcast live on state radio and television just as print media reported the events.”
Oyatomi said the refurbishment of the legislative assembly included the construction of a hall, an e-library, surveillance system, landscaping, furniture and lighting,
He said the refurbishment would include a total overhaul of the complex to meet with modern architectural and aesthetic standards.
The ruling party also debunked the allegation that the state government was planning to spend N377m to celebrate the first anniversary of Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme.
Oyatomi said, “If the state government did not spend N377m to celebrate its first year in office, why should it spend that much tom celebrate the first anniversary of OYES?”
“Politics should be devoid of falsehood and mischief. The Osun PDP was in the saddle for seven and a half years and it only recorded monumental failure in all areas.”
