Church, Classrooms Set on Fire in Potiskum, Yobe State

Church classrooms were today burnt in Potiskum, Yobe state by crowds protesting the killing of cattle dealers. Saharareporters cannot verify at this moment if there were casualties.
Five days ago, over 60 people were killed at Potiskun cattle market in Yobe state by gunmen.
Residents of the area are calling on the federal government to withdraw the Joint Task Force (JTF). They accused the soldiers and policemen of not doing enough to protect them.
The chairman of the Movement for Justice of Nigeria (MOJ) Yobe state chapter, Zakari Adamu Makere, told newsmen that “when we talk of peace, we are not only talking about the absence of war but the absence of fear anxiety, danger; in other words peace reflects that security-friendly system that frees individuals and groups of peoples from fears and dangers of losing such inalienable human right as life, liberty, and property.”
He accused the military and the police of recklessly shooting at people at the slightest provocation.
UPDATE:  The Yobe state government has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew starting from tomorrow in response to the escalating violence.
